About Verket
What is Verket?
The old ironwork in Avesta are today a museum and a cultural arena unlike many others, filled with unique experiences. Verket offers its visitors a mix of history, technology, art and culture in the unusually well-preserved industrial environment. It houses both permanent art installations integrated in the suggestively lit buildings and temporary events with music, theater and lectures.
The Iron works in Avesta is an industrial heritage of national interest. It is an unusually complete iron works facility, even from an international perspective. Today, at Verket, there are film, sound, and technology that playfully make yesterday's reality tangible, and visitors can follow the journey of iron ore to iron and steel. Every summer, Verket is home to Avesta Art, which gathers Swedish and international contemporary art of world-class caliber, with a new exhibition every year. Public guided tours of the art exhibition are available every day, and on Saturdays and Sundays, there are also industrial history tours. Groups can also book private tours.
Is Avesta Art and Verket the same thing?
