What is Avesta Art?

"The art exhibition Avesta Art was introduced in 1995. The exhibition's name alone encompasses several dimensions. The art gallery is of a unique kind, where each artist faces the challenge of creating an interaction – either contrast or harmony – with the industrial heritage's strong expressions in materials and monumental architecture. With artistic interpretations added to an almost untouched industrial environment, the industrial heritage is also given a unique guide. Central to Avesta Art as an idea and event is the dialogue between industrial history and contemporary art."

Avesta Art was a biennial event between 1995 and 2010. Since 2011, Avesta Art has been held annually.

The exhibition's ambition is to attract new groups of visitors and to provide Sweden with an art attraction of international interest.
