Yngvild Saeter creates sculptural works from motorcycle parts, metal chains, rivets and fur. Her visual world has been inspired by the punk scene and the straight edge movement, as well as her near-death experience in connection with an operation. The titles of the artworks are recognizable from literature and TV, such as Tolkien and Star Trek, and sometimes they have Altar as a subtitle. Saeter's works are both powerful and floating at the same time. They touch on the states of life and death, survival and change. They show something that is vaguely recognizable but also a completely unseen world.
Yngvild Saeter was born in 1986 in Norway, now lives and works in Sweden. She is artistically educated at the Valand Academy of Fine Arts, Gothenburg University and has studied anthropology and political science at the University of Oslo and has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions in Norway, Sweden and internationally. During Avesta Art her work is shown in the main hall of Verkets Rosthusbyggnad.
