Margriet van Breevoort's sculptures appear hyperrealistic through the technique she uses, but the figures are not those we encounter in everyday life. In her art, the line between reality and the invented is decidedly impossibly thin, in the sculptures humans and animals merge into new beings. In her works, van Breevoort strives to emphasize contradictions and the dialectic that can exist between humans and nature, biology and technology.
Margriet van Breevort was born in Amsterdam in 1990 and received her artistic education at the Hogeschool voor de kunsten Utrecht, graduating in 2013, and has since exhibited extensively. She is participating with five sculptures at Avesta Art. This is her first exhibition in Sweden.
