Maja Daniels is a photography-based artist and filmmaker interested in playing with concepts of time and notions of documentation and history in her works. To create stories where mystery represents resistance, the unspoken and what one may never truly understand. During Avesta Art she participates with film and photographs from Elf Dalia and Gertrudeprojects as well as a spatial installation.
Using sociological methodology, sound, moving images and archival material, she wishes to recontextualize historical events and explore contradictory narratives. In both her filmmaking and photography, the line between documentary and fiction is always very fine. With family roots in Älvdalen and now Sweden as her base, Daniels has the world as her field of work. She is also a lecturer in film at the Film, Photography and Literary Design unit at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg.
