The artist duo LILITH creates visual worlds through intuitive, collage-like processes where performance, film, text, sound and sculptural installations interact. The duo's work revolves around human inner states and driving forces. In the works, they examine the rites and ceremonies we follow to function and be accepted in a group. Through performance that touches on community, group belonging and exclusion, LILITH builds their works as living images. The basic questions they start from are universal human ones – love, loss and grief – driven by a desire to penetrate the viewer's consciousness and a hope for existential understanding.
LILITH is the artist duo Elin Lundgren, born 1973 in Stockholm, and Petter Pettersson, born 1972 in Kristinehamn, who live and work in Linderöd and Malmö. In 2007, the artist duo founded the acclaimed Lilith Performance Studio – an independent arena for practical artistic research with a focus on newly produced large-scale art performances by invited artists from all over the world.
During Avesta Art, the artist duo LILITH's three-channel video work will be shown. Changed thoughts – Resistance and fog, eA work in which the individual's desire for rebirth in relation to the collective's need for ritual intimacy and care is examined.
