Workshop Silkscreen printing as a movie poster July 16-17, 2025

SILKSCREEN PRINTING has a long tradition – the method was developed in China about 2000 years ago, and has been used in poster and street art to create large editions using relatively simple methods.

In a workshop led by Love Antell and Dave Koenig we will create movie posters, using the silkscreen technique. Based on examples of poster art from Cuba and Atelier Populaire in France, the workshop will guide course participants in creating effective posters within a short and limited production time.

The workshop will go through the basic techniques of silkscreen printing, using paper clichés.
The course will also go through handwritten letters such as
method to alternate with.

LOVE ANTEL is a multimedia artist, illustrator and music artist. He has a master's degree in Graphic Design and Illustration, with a focus on graphic techniques, illustration, and multimedia.
DAVE KOENIG is an exhibition producer at Avesta Art, and is responsible for the graphic workshop. He specializes in silkscreen printing, with many years of experience. He has collaborated with Shepard Fairey, among others.

PLANNING
The participating participants will need to prepare by choosing a film that they want to start from. To the workshop, they should bring a picture or a sketch they have created themselves, which illustrates that film. Based on the picture, the participants will individually create a film poster, using the silkscreen technique with a paper cliché. The workshop will result in an edition of unique prints in the format 42×60 cm.
