Verket is a historically preserved industrial environment from its time of operation."
Some parts have been adapted, but most of it is in its original condition.
This means that every visitor must be careful and keep the following in mind:
Uneven floor surfaces
Steep stairs
Dim lighting
Cold, moisture, and ice coverings
Dusty environment
40 lockable storage lockers. Free to use, coins can be obtained at the entrance.
Seven restrooms, two of which are handicap accessible with changing tables, on floor 1 and floor 00.
On the first floor, there are two wheelchairs available for loan.
Portable folding chairs are available for loan, please ask at the entrance.
Elevator between all floors.
Accompanying attendants have free admission.
Free Wi-Fi.
Families with children
There is a possibility to heat brought baby food.
Two high chairs are available in our café.
Two changing tables, floor 1 and floor 00.
Dog owners
Dogs are not allowed indoors at Verket/Avesta Art. Dogs are allowed outdoors and on our outdoor terrace but must be kept on a leash and under supervision. However, you are of course welcome to bring a certified guide dog or service dog
Smoking
Please note that smoking is prohibited in the museum and at the main entrance.
Café
In our café, you can order pastries/sandwiches that are free from lactose, gluten, and dairy.
Packed lunch
Packed lunch can be consumed at the tables along the canal. Packed lunch is not allowed to be consumed at Verket's outdoor terrace or inside the café.
Where is Verket located?
Verket is centrally located in Avesta, in the old preserved industrial area of Koppardalen. If you're traveling by car, Verket is only a few minutes away from highways 70 and 68. You can also easily reach us by both train and bus. The walking distance from the bus station in the city center, to Koppardalen, is approximately 10 minutes.
Follow the brown tourist signs with white text that say 'Verket/Avesta Art'.
From Highway 70 heading north; Take the exit at Dalahästmotet and continue straight over the bridge. Immediately after the bridge, head towards Koppardalen and turn right. Turn right again into the Koppardal area and follow the road straight ahead. After the second roundabout, turn right after about 100 meters towards the marked parking area and towards Verket.
From highway 70 heading south take the first exit to the right, marked Skogsbo. Then turn right towards Koppardalen. Follow the road straight ahead and across the bridge. (Here you can get a glimpse of Verket to the right of the river and power station). Before the railroad crossing, right after the speed bump, turn left towards Koppardalen. Follow the road for about 200 meters, then turn left into the marked parking area and towards Verket.
From Highway 68 Continue straight ahead after the roundabout, towards Highway 70. 100 meters after the roundabout, just after the viaduct, turn right towards the hospital and Koppardalen. Continue straight ahead into the Koppardal area. After the second roundabout, about 100 meters, turn right towards the marked parking area and Verket.
The pedestrian bridge is closed! Pedestrians and cyclists are directed to the railway crossing at Gamla Byn until further notice
By train or bus and on foot. If you arrive by train to Avesta/Krylbo, take the first available bus to Avesta Centrum.
If you arrive by bus, get off at Avesta Centrum.
From there, walk straight down towards the city center. Pass the town hall and the park with the Bison on your left, and Avesta Galleria. Continue straight ahead for about 300 meters towards the pedestrian bridge that takes you down to the Koppardal area. Once on the bridge, you will see Verket's two large smokestacks straight ahead. When you reach the bottom of the stairs, just walk straight ahead towards Verket.
Free visitor parking is available adjacent to Verket. There are two charging stations with four outlets. For visitors with disabilities, there is accessible parking and an entrance on the side of the building. Please use the doorbell, and the staff will open it.
