Eske Kath

Eske Kath (1975) is based in the Copenhagen area, in Denmark. In his art, he works with abstract landscape painting in vibrant colors where nature is both simplified and enhanced. This year’s Avesta Art shows his landscapes painted on canvas in three basic shapes: a triangle, a circle and a square. The work reflects an attempt to create a controlled and reassuring form in itself, before an uncertain future. This theme touches on how we need to find ways to live with nature, instead of against it. Eske takes on a classic role as a landscape painter, but in a contemporary way. What role can landscape painting have today in art and contemporary life? Eske Kath studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
