14 juli blir det festligtvärre när Avesta Arts första residenskonstnär Love Antell kan presentera Damokles Svärd, det verk som skapats under residensperioden och därtill konsert!

Musikartisterna och konstnärerna Love Antell, Mattias Björkas och Thella Johnson har tidigare på var sitt håll tolkat musik från Finland på svenska.
År 2020 startade de det gemensamma projektet Bottenviken med målet att sammanföra musiker, konstnärer och författare från de svenska och finska språkområdena för en dialog över Östersjön genom musik och texter. Projektet har resulterat i fullängds -albumet ”Du och jag – ett rike – ett land”, och programserien ”Vi lyssnar på Finland” för Sveriges radio.
Förbokning krävs på grund av begränsat antal platser i Rosthuset. Kostnadsfritt.

Avesta Art residens 2023 finansieras genom Region Dalarna och Verket, och genomförs i samverkan med Ateljé Bredgrind.
Love Antells bredd och skapande i olika genrer och konstnärliga tekniker väcker vårt intresse. Han kommer att skapa ett platsspecifikt verk i AR-teknik, en metod som möjliggör förnyade och ytterligare lager av upplevelser i en faktisk, historisk miljö.
Vi ser fram emot att ta del av Antells kombination av fysiska objekt, grafiska tekniker, musikkomposition, animation och illustrerade element i ett sammansatt digitalt immersivt verk – det första skapat i ett Avesta Art residens.
AR står för augmented reality (förstärkt verklighet). I AR sker allt i realtid och utgår från den verkliga världen och man tillför visuell data.
Tidigare utställningar och projekt i urval
Hösten 2020 – separatutställningen Drömmer robotar om elektriska får? på Bergööska huset, Hallsbergs Konsthall.
Sommaren 2022 – utställningen Stranden på Galleri Söreskog, Berg/Lammhult. Utställningen bestod av originalbilder samt en multiillustrerad barnbok.
2009-2018 – medverkan i den internationella utställningen Facing the climate, på initiativ av Svenska institutet.
Sedan 2017 återkommande gästlärare i Kreativt skrivande på Biskop Arnös Folkhögskola. Tidigare gästlärare på Dômen Konstskola i Göteborg och konstnärlig ledare för ett musikprojekt mellan Västra Götalands Unga Symfoniker och Utmarksskolan i Kortedala.
TV och film – deltagare i Så mycket bättre 2014, Tv4. Medverkande i Love i Finland, 2015, SVT2. Medverkande i dokumentärfilmen Ingen riktig finne (Laulu koti-ikävästa), 2013.
Love Antells musik har förekommit i film, tv och radio och reklamsammanhang.
Pågående
Vintern och våren 2022/23 – musikprojektet Bottenviken, en plattform för kulturutbyte mellan Sverige och Finland, med stöd från Kulturrådet, Konstnärsnämnden och Kulturfonden Sverige Finland.
Musikalbumet Du och jag – ett rike – ett land släpps 26 maj 2023. Projektet har också mynnat ut i programserien Vi lyssnar på Finland för Sveriges Radio samt en live-sänd konsert för Sveriges television, februari 2023.

We are happy to announce that this summer we can welcome artist-in-residence for a work stay at Verket in historical setting at the old ironworks in Avesta as well as the picturesque village By Kyrkby. The residency also include exhibition in Verket.
Avesta Art Residence wishes to strengthen the professional art scene in Dalarna, and to enrich/develop Avesta Art and Verket. The residency is open for applications from professional artists. This residency is made possible by the support from Region Dalarna and in co-operation with Ateljé Bredgrind konstnärsresidens.

Acknowledgements
Verket is a museum for industrial history in the former ironworks in Avesta. Every year there is a new Avesta Art exhibition- where contemporary art meets industrial artifacts in the midst of the old buildings. The knowledgeable art audience and novices alike are equally welcome, and the many visitors tell of a fruitful and appreciated mixture between art and industry. It is an adventure of sorts, to enter Verket. Verket is a museum for industrial history in the former ironworks in Avesta. Every year there is a new Avesta Art exhibition- where contemporary art meets industrial artifacts in the midst of the old buildings. The knowledgeable art audience and novices alike are equally welcome, and the many visitors tell of a fruitful and appreciated mixture between art and industry. It is an adventure of sorts, to enter Verket. Public guided tours are held daily as well as for private groups. There is an open art studio for the young, a café and museum shop in Verket, and during the season there are various cultural events.
Verket and Avesta Art are run by Avesta municipality, with support from Region Dalarna. The first Avesta Art was held 1995, first as a biennial but now yearly, with strong ambition from the beginning. Verket and Avesta Art are now in a process of development and this extra support from Region Dalarna allows a mutually enrichening creative collab. We are very happy for the co-operation with Ateljé Bredgrind konstnärsresidens; an idyllic village setting in By Kyrkby featuring countryside accomodation with a studio. These faculties are offered in addition to the workshop and studio facilities at Verket. It’s the best of two worlds, as we like to think.
AVESTA ART RESIDENCE
With this residence we would like to offer an opportunity for a professional artist to experience an inspiring work stay away from busy city life and to exhibit in Verket. The artist-in-residence is bestowed with artistic freedom and open to explore the development of artistical practice in the meeting with both places in their diversity.
The purpose of Avesta Art residence is to strengthen professional art scene in Dalarna and to enrich and develop Avesta Art and Verket fruitful companionship.
Workshop, studio facilities and accomodation
Verket studio is big workshop which includes a press for prints, and collegial meetings. The studio and workshop are available for the artist during office workhours.
In co-operation with Ateljé Bredgrinds konstnärsresidens accomodation and studio is available for the artist-in residence in By Kyrkby, some 25km from Avesta. It is possible for the artist to bring one (1) accompanying person to Bredgrind free of charge for accomodation, however, travel costs are not covered. Pets are not allowed.
Ateljé Bredgrind is situated in a charming cottage with old features overlooking the pastoral surroundings. The house has a small kitchenet, bedroom, two studios and an outhouse. In the village there is a gas station, café sites of historical interest, forests and the mighty river Dalälven running close by. National park Färnbofjärden is in the area. Criteria
The residence is open for applications from professional artists who hold a degree in Fine Art or have a minimum of 4 years of documented exhibition experience.
The applicant can be a resident of Sweden or abroad, but please note that travel costs are only covered for travels within Sweden.
Appointed Artist-in-Residence
- shall during the residency work on new art projects and exhibit the works/work in allocated space in Verket.
-be covered by own insurance
-bring own computer if needed
-shall document the work process during the stay and report after the exhibition period
-approves that Verket can publish its own documentation of the work process and artworks on social media and web.
-comply to follow the Ateljé Bredgrinds rules during the stay in By Kyrkby
