The Corridor

Meta Isæus-Berlin (SE)

In the gloom by the blast furnace and harsh, tarred wooden hatches, the light unexpectedly ricochets off the smooth blackness The shiny black capsule catches the eye Not being able to resist, we are confronted with something deeply personal – a writing desk in a home where we enter through no fault of our own…

Kristoffer Zetterstrand (SE)

Time as a dimension of endlessness Time in a fixed present Time as traversing boundaries In Kristoffer Zetterstrand’s paintings time baffles the mind Strange figures and beautiful landscapes from art’s past appear on the scene where semi-photographic painting and the pixel pictures of computer games also appear quite clearly Epoch is added to epoch in…

Jan Stenmark (SE)

The clock strikes with the hammer and marks the passage of time Like blows with a hammer and sledge, boom of the furnaces’ issue and rolling mill thump, Avesta’s old ironworks remembers a glorious era that time has rushed by Just fifty years after the cutting edge ironworks had opened came stainless steel – record-breaking…

In the woods occasionally (SE)

Musical tones seep through the various rooms of the old ironworks, finding their way in the magnificent halls, nooks and crannies At first one thinks of Karlfeldt’s Nobel Prize winning poetry “ muffled as a hovering bumble bee behind the hills rumbles Avesta’s rapids” The muted sound arouses curiosity, encourages exploration Closer to the source,…

IC-98 (FI)

In the smelting house’s darkest hall awaits a country of the future – an Abendland (Evening Land) The landscape is suggestive, drawing the onlooker into the magnificence of the lofty tree and the marsh’s bubbling brew Here is an amion – billowing movements as if nature in a struggle with its own desolate premises for…

Hanne Mago Wiklund (SE)

Hanna Vihriälä (FI)
