Target group: Age 5-adult
Duration: 1.5-2 hours depending on age group
- For everyone to experience the joy of math and realize that it is about much more than just counting and sums.
- For everyone to understand that math is everywhere around us and enriches our lives.
- For everyone who visits Baghdad to feel that they have strengthened their mathematical skills and understand that different cultures have contributed to the advancement of mathematics.
Al-Kwarizmi, a mathematician working in Baghdad in the 9th century, receives visitors and introduces them to Hypatia, Brahmagupta and Sonja Kovalevskaja.
Together with these mathematicians, visitors face a number of challenges. These might include creating patterns, finding new ways to solve problems, or playing games that develop your mathematical mind and logical thinking. Everything is connected to school and preschool curricula.
You can also explore the historical perspective of the advancement of mathematics.
The Baghdad exhibition was produced by NAVET – The Sjuhäradsbygden Science Center.
